Between skin cells is a network that helps support the tissue. It is called the extracellular matrix, or ECM. Collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are among its components.

How does PN support the ECM?
If the ECM is the structure supporting the skin, fibroblasts are among the cells that build and maintain it. PN relates both to the environment around these cells and to their activity.
Retaining water in tissue
PN can bind water. As it gradually breaks down in tissue, the bound water is progressively released. This helps explain its role in hydration around cells.
Supporting ECM-producing cells
In cultured cells, Colangelo and colleagues found that PN supported fibroblast proliferation and viability, alongside increased production of type I and III collagen.
Connecting to collagen organisation
In the same study, researchers observed better-organised collagen fibres in a mouse wound model. This helps explain how PN may be involved in ECM production and organisation.
The connection is support for the cells that build the skin’s structure. These findings on collagen production and organisation come from laboratory and animal studies; effects on human skin should be assessed using clinical research on the chosen product.

Original PN HPT® from Italy

Plinest comes from Mastelli in Italy, the developer of PN HPT® technology. Distributor materials describe it as “Original PN-HPT from Italy”. Here, “original” refers to Mastelli’s proprietary technology and the expertise the company has developed over time.

Questions before choosing
a PN programme
Can the whole-face 2 cc programme include the under-eyes?
The total 2 cc can be distributed to include the under-eye area, using the same overall amount. Spreading it across more areas leaves less product for each site, so changes in some areas may not meet your expectations. Agree with the doctor beforehand on which areas to prioritise and what changes you hope to see.
Which is better: Vitaran or Plinest?
That depends on your skin and what you want to address. Vitaran has lower-cost options in BEHAP’s service list, while Plinest offers HPT® technology and product studies to consider. Weigh these factors together rather than deciding on price alone.
Can two 2 cc programmes be compared directly?
You can make an initial price comparison, but 2 cc only describes the volume used. Check the exact product, ingredients and treatment area as well. Equal volumes do not mean that the products or treatment plans are the same.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the product and treatment goal. For example, Plinest’s manufacturer describes 3 sessions, 14–21 days apart, for certain skin groups. This is Plinest-specific guidance, not a universal schedule for all PN formulations. Ask about the proposed number of sessions and total cost before starting.
Should I allow time after treatment?
Yes. Small raised bumps, redness, swelling or bruising can occur after injections. If you have an important event or photography planned, mention the date before booking so the appointment can be planned around the treatment area and technique.
Can I ask for information before choosing?
