Addressing skin laxity
across the jawline and body

A less defined jawline, fullness under the chin, or loose skin on the arms and abdomen may need attention beneath the skin’s surface. IgniteRF offers handpieces that deliver RF energy under the skin to help tighten tissue and improve the contours of the treated area.

01 / IGNITERF EXPLAINED

What is
IgniteRF?

IgniteRF is an InMode platform that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy with interchangeable handpieces to treat different tissues and areas.

QuantumRF, FaceTite, AccuTite and BodyTite deliver energy through a small instrument inserted beneath the skin through an incision. The heat helps tissue contract, addressing laxity and contour. Treatment requires wound care and planned recovery time.

The platform also supports Morpheus8 Burst which delivers RF through an array of fine needles. Its energy delivery and aftercare differ from those of handpieces inserted beneath the skin.

FACE / Jawline

Jawline definition
Loose skin or fat?

A less defined jawline may reflect laxity in the skin or underlying tissue, as well as the amount of fat in the area. A doctor assesses the cause before choosing treatment: reducing fat may not be appropriate if there is already little facial fat.

03 / WHEN TO CONSIDER IGNITERF

Matching the approach to the degree of laxity When should you consider
IgniteRF?

Mild laxity and visibly hanging excess skin call for different approaches. The overview below shows where IgniteRF fits alongside other tightening treatments.

01

Mild to moderate laxity

RF delivered from a handpiece on the skin

MONOPOLAR RF · NEEDLE-FREE

Tightening from the skin’s surface

Explore this approach

For mild to moderate laxity without substantial excess skin, a needle-free monopolar RF treatment such as XERF may be a starting point. Energy is delivered through a handpiece placed on the skin.

The doctor considers tissue thickness and the area to be tightened when selecting this approach. [1]

02

Moderate laxity
with skin-quality concerns

RF delivered at separate points through needles

FRACTIONAL RF · MICRONEEDLING

Addressing firmness and skin quality together

Explore this approach

When laxity accompanies wrinkles or uneven texture, fractional RF microneedling delivers energy at separate points and selected depths to address both skin quality and firmness.

This category includes monopolar and bipolar RF. Morpheus8 Burst uses bipolar RF and can work within the skin and underlying tissue, depending on the handpiece and settings. Allow time for skin care after treatment. [2]

04

Severe laxity
with substantial excess skin

Assessing how to address excess skin

SURGICAL ASSESSMENT

Compare with surgical removal of excess skin

Explore this approach

RF tightening may be insufficient for skin that visibly hangs or folds, particularly after substantial weight loss. An assessment can determine whether excess skin needs to be removed surgically.

A surgeon can help compare the expected outcomes, incisions and recovery associated with each option. [5]

These categories are a starting point. Treatment choice also depends on skin quality, fat, excess skin and the area involved. Some people have one treatment; others combine approaches. This is not a sequence everyone needs to follow.

FAT & SKIN LAXITY

Fat and loose skinWhat needs to be addressed?

Fullness beneath the chin or loose upper arms may involve both fat deposits and tissue laxity. The first step is to identify what is changing the contour, then decide whether to reduce volume, tighten tissue or combine the two.

Compare the two approaches

04 / IGNITERF & LIPOSUCTION

How does IgniteRF
differ from liposuction?

IgniteRF console image from InMode

Liposuction reduces volume by removing fat, while subdermal RF helps tighten tissue. Depending on the concerns in the treatment area, the two can be used separately or together.

SUBDERMAL RF · IGNITERF

Tighten
tissue

Handpieces such as QuantumRF, FaceTite, AccuTite and BodyTite deliver RF to heat the tissue beneath the skin and help it contract. RF tightening is a separate step from fat removal. [2]

RF heats tissue to help it contract and stimulates collagen production and remodelling over time.

LIPOSUCTION

Remove
fat

A suction cannula removes excess fat to reshape the treated area. How much the skin retracts depends on its existing elasticity. If the skin is already loose, reducing fat alone may not address the need for tightening. [1]

VOLUME + TISSUE CONTRACTION

When fat deposits
and loose skin coexist

When both are present, the doctor may combine the two approaches to address volume and firmness. One studied example is BodyTite combined with upper-arm liposuction. [3]

When there is little fat, the plan may focus on tissue tightening. If excess fat is the main concern and skin elasticity is good, liposuction may be the focus. Substantial excess skin also calls for comparison with surgical skin removal.

05 / CLINICAL RESEARCH

What do the
studies report?

The following studies report on contour, firmness and skin quality after subdermal RF used alongside other treatments. Each study used different handpieces and assessment methods.

BODYTITE + LIPOSUCTION · UPPER ARMS · 6-MONTH FOLLOW-UP

87%

Satisfied with
upper-arm contour

Questionnaire respondents reported satisfaction with upper-arm contour after BodyTite combined with liposuction.

85%

Satisfied with
skin firmness

Respondents reported satisfaction with the degree of skin tightening following the same treatment.

Assessed 6 months after treatment · 27 questionnaire respondents out of 40 treated patients [1]

These results reflect satisfaction with BodyTite combined with liposuction, rather than RF alone.

FACETITE / ACCUTITE + MORPHEUS8

Firmness
+ skin quality

Stein and colleagues, in 2025, reported tissue contraction and improved skin quality with facial and neck treatments using FaceTite or AccuTite and Morpheus8, selected individually or in combination for each area. [2]

Read the methods and study limitations

The 87% and 85% figures combine the satisfied, very satisfied and extremely satisfied categories from the percentages reported in the study. There were 27 questionnaire respondents out of 40 treated patients.

The Stein paper was a retrospective case review and did not use objective measures to quantify outcomes, so the contribution of each treatment cannot be separated. The upper-arm study had no comparison group receiving liposuction without RF and relied substantially on questionnaires and before-and-after photographs.

These studies examined FaceTite, AccuTite, Morpheus8 or BodyTite as specified, rather than QuantumRF directly. The Stein paper did not specify Morpheus8 Burst. The results should therefore be read in the context of the devices and methods actually studied.

The Stein article appeared in a supplement sponsored by InMode, and one author was an InMode consultant. The authors of the upper-arm study were consultants to Invasix. These disclosed conflicts of interest provide context for interpreting the research.

06 / FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions about IgniteRF

How do IgniteRF and Morpheus8 Burst differ?

IgniteRF is a platform; Morpheus8 Burst is one of its handpieces. It delivers RF through fine needles to address skin quality and firmness, and can work beneath the skin depending on the handpiece and settings. QuantumRF, FaceTite, AccuTite and BodyTite instead use an instrument inserted directly beneath the skin, so the procedure and recovery differ. Read about Morpheus8 Burst

Is QuantumRF the same as liposuction?

They are separate procedures. QuantumRF uses RF beneath the skin to help tissue contract. If fat needs to be removed, that step should be specified separately in the treatment plan. See the differences and when they can be combined

Does it hurt? Will I need general anaesthesia?

Subdermal RF requires anaesthesia. The doctor selects the method according to the treatment location, the size of the area and your health, so not everyone needs general anaesthesia. Before booking, ask which method will be used, whether fasting is required, and what arrangements to make for getting home and receiving help afterwards. Sensations during treatment vary from person to person.

Is one treatment enough, and how long do results last?

The number of treatments depends on skin condition, the area treated and the response afterwards. One treatment cannot be assumed to be enough for everyone. Skin continues to change with age and weight, and permanent results cannot be guaranteed.

Is it suitable for loose skin after weight loss?

Tissue laxity needs to be distinguished from the amount of excess skin. When there is substantial excess skin, RF may not produce enough change. An assessment with a surgeon can help you compare options against your goals.

Does it always need to be combined with Morpheus8?

No. Not every treatment on the same platform needs to be used. If a combination is recommended, make sure you understand what each treatment addresses and how it affects cost and recovery.

Can it leave scars?

Small incisions are needed to insert the instrument, so marks or scars are possible. Healing depends on incision placement, technique, aftercare and individual response.

What does FDA cleared mean?

It means the system has undergone the US FDA review process for specified indications. The device model, handpiece and indication all need to match. Clearance does not guarantee individual results or superiority over other treatments, and does not automatically establish registration in Thailand.

07 / HOW RF IS DELIVERED

How is RF delivered
beneath the skin?

QuantumRF Two electrodes sit at the tip of the instrument beneath the skin. RF passes through the tissue between them, without an electrode resting on the skin’s surface.

FaceTite / AccuTite / BodyTite One electrode sits beneath the skin and another rests on the surface. RF passes through the tissue between the internal and external electrodes.

08 / PREPARATION & RECOVERY

From preparation
to aftercare

Subdermal RF requires planning for both treatment day and recovery. This timeline outlines what to focus on at each stage. Your doctor will adapt the details to the handpiece, treatment area and any liposuction or other procedures performed alongside it.

  1. Before setting a date

    Start with a clear plan

Tell your doctor which area concerns you and what you hope to achieve. Share your medical conditions, drug allergies, medicines, supplements and previous procedures so the handpiece, anaesthesia and any additional treatments can be planned.

Follow your personalised instructions for food, medicines, getting home and wound care. Do not stop regular medication on your own.

  2. Treatment day and before going home

    Be ready for aftercare

Arrive with clean skin in the treatment area and wear comfortable clothing. Arrange for someone to take you home as advised. The doctor will decide how to manage the incision sites and explain medicines and compression garments if needed.

Before leaving, obtain your wound-care instructions, follow-up arrangements and contact details for the treatment team.

  3. The first 1–3 days

    Keep up with wound care

Change dressings daily as instructed by the treatment team. If you have pain, use pain relief as prescribed. Follow the team’s instructions for cool compresses.

If oral or topical antibiotics are prescribed, use them as directed. Some plans specify a course lasting 5–7 days.

  4. Weeks 1–3

Allow the treated area time to recover

Bruising may last around 7–10 days or longer, while swelling may last 1–3 weeks. Plan your return to work, exercise or events with your doctor according to the area and procedure.

Compression-garment schedules for each area are listed below.

  5. Ongoing follow-up

    Monitor sensation and changes

Numbness, tingling or tenderness may occur after treatment. These usually improve gradually over approximately 4–16 weeks, although they may last longer in some people. Your doctor will assess recovery at follow-up visits.

Once swelling has subsided, compare pre-treatment and follow-up photographs taken from similar angles and under similar lighting to assess changes in the treated area.

Compression-garment schedules by area

Face

A compression garment is generally not required, or may be used at the doctor’s discretion.

Neck

InMode’s sample instructions dated July 2026 specify full-time wear for 3–4 days, followed by night-time wear for a further 1–2 weeks, according to the plan selected by the doctor.

Torso

InMode’s sample instructions dated July 2026 specify wear for 22–24 hours a day during the first 3 weeks, followed by daytime or night-time wear for a further 3 weeks, according to the plan selected by the doctor.

10 / RISKS & PRECAUTIONS

Risks to understand
before subdermal RF

Subdermal RF carries risks related to heat and instrument insertion, including burns, irregular skin contour, asymmetry, infection, fluid collection and nerve injury. Ask your doctor to explain the risks relevant to your treatment area and plan, and how problems would be managed.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, have an implanted electronic device, have a wound or infection in the treatment area, have a clotting disorder or heal slowly. Disclose all medicines and supplements. Treatment may need to be postponed or an alternative selected following assessment.

11 / PRICE & INCLUSIONS

Ask about IgniteRF pricing
