How do imaging and energy work together?
DeepSEE shows tissue beneath the transducer, including the SMAS layer. Your doctor uses this image to check contact between the transducer and skin and assess tissue depth before delivering focused ultrasound. This provides information from beneath the skin in the area being treated to guide the treatment decision. [1] [16]
What has improved with PRIME?
PRIME has a 35% larger screen, brighter and crisper images, and a faster refresh rate. These improvements support viewing tissue and working with the display during treatment. Consider them alongside the treatment plan and treating clinician when choosing a service. [6]
HIFU: identify the model before comparing
HIFU is a category of focused ultrasound systems. The photograph here shows Ultraformer III as an example; this system uses micro and macro focused ultrasound. Ask which device and transducers are proposed, whether tissue imaging is provided during treatment, and which areas the plan covers. Interpret shot or line counts according to the device system being used. [10]
Oligio: a radiofrequency approach
Oligio uses monopolar radiofrequency to heat tissue, a different energy mechanism from the ultrasound used by Ultherapy PRIME and HIFU. The photograph shows the original Oligio, rather than OligioX. When comparing proposals, ask how each treatment’s energy and treatment area address your concern. [9]
