What does one treatment line count?
One line delivers a sequence of small thermal treatment points in the tissue, called thermal coagulation points, or TCPs. Line count is therefore one measure of treatment quantity, while the location and depth describe where your doctor uses that energy. [1]
When an offer lists 400 or 800 lines, ask which areas will receive them and which tissue depths will be treated. The total alone does not explain these details.
Why does the number of lines differ from person to person?
Treating the skin beneath the chin alone has a different scope from treating the lower face and neck. Even at the same age, people may receive different line allocations according to the assessment and their goals. Several details inform treatment planning. [13] [12]
- Treatment areas: the skin beneath the chin, the neck or several parts of the face, and the size of each area.
- Degree of laxity: how much the skin has loosened in each area, and whether laxity is the main concern to address.
- Tissue seen on ultrasound: imaging beneath the transducer helps your doctor identify the location and depth of the target tissue before selecting the transducer and energy delivery.
- Line distribution: how the total will be divided between areas and tissue depths.
- Your goals: which areas you want to address and what changes you hope to see.
These details help your doctor explain why they recommend that line count and how each part of treatment relates to your concerns.
What did the Ultherapy PRIME study treat, and how many lines did it use?
A pilot study published in 2025 treated 30 participants in Singapore, with actual ages ranging from 36–62 years. Ultherapy PRIME was used on the lower face and neck with two transducer depths. The protocol specified at least 650 lines; the mean delivered was 792.3 lines per participant. [11]
The 650-line figure belongs to that lower-face and neck protocol using two depths, and 792.3 is the mean for that study group. This was a small study without a control group, sponsored by Merz. It provides a published treatment example, rather than a minimum or a suitable line count for every face. [11]
How does age relate to line count?
Age contributes to assessment because skin and tissue change over time. However, people of the same age can have different degrees of laxity and different areas they want to address. Your doctor therefore examines your face and views the tissue before deciding on line allocation. [13] [12]
A 2025 practical paper by doctors in Korea describes Ultherapy/MFU-V treatment in Asian men. Two cases illustrate different treatment scopes:
- Age 32, 800 lines: several facial regions, including the forehead and brow area, cheeks and skin beneath the chin, extending to the upper neck.
- Age 43, 715 lines: the middle and lower face, including the skin beneath the chin.
These are illustrative cases in an experience-based practical paper, not a PRIME-specific trial. Merz supported editorial assistance. Because the treatment scopes differed, the line counts cannot be compared by age alone or used to prescribe the same numbers for everyone aged 32 or 43. [12]
Match treatment scope before comparing package prices
A price per line helps you compare costs, but similarly named packages can cover different areas. Before comparing offers, ask for three sets of details:
- Included areas: what does “full face” cover? Are the skin beneath the chin and the neck included, and which areas are excluded?
- Lines and distribution: how many lines are planned, how are they divided between areas, and which tissue depths will be treated according to the assessment?
- Services and terms: what does the quoted price cover for preparation, other services and follow-up?
If one offer covers only the skin beneath the chin and another covers the face and neck, compare both the total cost and what each offer includes, even if the price per line is the same. If a package includes fillers or another device treatment, ask for an itemised quotation so you can see the Ultherapy PRIME cost separately from additional services.
Illustrative discounts by line count
This example uses a base rate of THB 100 per line for 400 lines. The 600- and 800-line options have the following illustrative discounts from that same base rate:
| Illustrative line count | Rate per line / discount |
|---|---|
| 400 lines | THB 100 per line |
| 600 lines | 10% off |
| 800 lines | 15% off |

The 400, 600 and 800 lines illustrate discount proportions; they are not matched to ages or recommended for particular areas. This table is therefore not a BEHAP quotation. Your actual cost depends on the confirmed price, the number of lines proposed after assessment and the services included in that offer.
Questions to understand the number of lines your doctor recommends
Once you have a proposed line count, these questions can help you picture the treatment:
- “Does treatment cover the area that concerns me, and which areas are excluded?”
- “What did the facial assessment and tissue imaging show that led to this line count?”
- “How are the lines divided between areas and tissue depths?”
- “For my goals, which changes will we look for at follow-up?”
- “What services does the price cover, and what terms or additional items apply?”
Ask BEHAP about line allocation and cost
Promotional rate: no more than THB 100 per line. Check the latest prices and promotions via LINE @behapwellness or Instagram @behap.clinic.
Mention Ultherapy PRIME and the areas you want to address, such as your jawline, the skin beneath your chin or your neck. Ask for service details and costs, then discuss the number and distribution of lines with your doctor in relation to the assessment before deciding.
